Just a real quick post. Looking at the picture albums (don't feel bad, there's only one) is temporarily on hold. Fixing a password problem. I think....

Allentown Service Plaza

On the way home from the soccer tournament, we stopped for the first time in ages at Allentown Service Plaza. It has been closed for renovations for a long time. Here are a few pics of what it looks like now. Completely different on the inside. It is really nice now! Was impressed. They even have a Starbucks now.

Soccer Tournament @ Victory

This past weekend we went to Victory (Conf. Center for NE of North America) for our bi-annual soccer tournament. Jenn, Kris, Angie, & I traveled up in my car and after getting a late start, turning around for camper keys, and getting stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for an hour (at 11:30pm!) we finally pulled in at about 2:00-2:30 a.m. The games started Sat. morning at 10:00 (or was it 10:30? I can't even remember) and Team DE's first match was against Toronto. They played an really tough game against them, taking WAY more shots on the goal the whole game. It looked like it was going to come down to a shoot out when in the last 5 seconds of the game, Toronto made a goal. Somehow they always seem to pull that off. They lost their next games to Syracuse and Ottawa B scoring only one goal in the Ottawa game. They played really well though. Even though they lost, it was only by a 2 goals max I think. Kyle did an amazing job as a first time goalie! He had no qualms about getting down an dirty to save that ball. We had a few other new players this year who I think everybody would agree did extremely well. Aaron an Matthew played and were really good I thought. Aaron & Paul rocked the defense. They set the whole thing up different this year and put all the teams into two pools. Frankly, I did not understand how the whole system worked, but Sunday morning found DE playing Toronto for a place in the playoffs. That game was much like the first in that it was a duel to the end with overtime. The difference... it went all the way to a shoot out which was INTENSE! Paul, Peter, Luke, Josh, & Sonya took the shots and it was so close it all came down to Sonya. If she made it we won. If she didn't make it, it went to second round shoot out. I guess she didn't want to cause us all that stress cause she kicked a beeeautiful kick into the corner of the goal! We went off ecstatic cheering and chanting SONYA! SONYA! SONYA! All I have to say about her soccer skills is to echo the words of Johanne Frantzen. "Sonya is a beast!" We ended up losing to Syracuse again giving them a MUCH greater run for their money in the next game, but 2nd in your pool is not so bad. We also came away with once again.... the sportsmanship trophy! I think the team is going to try really hard next time to get 1st overall, so look out to the rest of the East Coast! Here WE Come!

I didn't take too many pics this weekend. Comes from leaving your camera in the camper and not wanting to miss the game to go get it, and not having a good enough camera to take moving shots. So sorry... no album with this post.

"Freaky Friday"

About two weeks ago we had a mystery dinner with Activity Club with the theme of "Freaky Friday". Was a pretty interesting night to say the least. The point wasn't actually to be "freaky" but just rather wacky. Everyone dressed very funny. Some of the costumes were hilarious! I didn't get to take too many full length shots of all the kids and their costumes, but I got them all at the table anyways I think. Or almost... All the AC workers dressed up as well and were the servers of the unknown edibles. All the names of the foods in the menus were all weird names so you never knew quite what you were ordering. Some of the kids ended up with eating mashed potatoes and apple sauce and pudding, to name a few, with their fingers. Most were quite pleased with this I think. Afterwards we had a game meeting and played volleyball with the net on the floor and a huge ball. That was hilarious. I never did get to play up next to a "my size net" though. Hehe, who am I kidding, I don't need a little net! I'm uh, the best jumper around... or not. Because I have not found anything better for the moment I have gotten a myphotoalubm site for those who are interested in seeing a few more pics than what appear on this blog. (Cough, Teresa) : ) You can click on the little icon at the top right hand corner of this page to view any albums I have. They are password protected and if you don't already know the username and password, you can email me and ask. byler_maria@yahoo.com Will (mostly, lol) be more than happy to give you the password. It is not the same as all the brunstad sites. Well anyways... Enjoy.

Josh was the winner for best costume for the guys.
